Saint-Jean-de-Luz means "Saint John of the Marais” as it is named after the marshy bay on which it was built, between the mountains and the sea. Along with Bayonne, Biarritz, Anglet, Guéthary and Hendaye, this is one of the cities that are part of the French Basque Country. If we wish to know the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region better, this town is considered one of the most beautiful in the Atlantic Pyrenees, closing the circle along with Bordeaux and La Rochelle, at 2 and 3,5 hours away respectively.
